My 5 Favourite Bars in Dublin

Having Irish parents that took me to Ireland about 5 times a year when I was a kid taught me what an amazing country Ireland it. It’s got stunning scenery, great history and the nicest, most welcoming people you will ever meet! If you haven’t been then I promise you will fall in love with the place and the Irish people.

Since I have been old enough to enjoy a pint of Guinness, I of course made several trips to Dublin. One of the best cities in the world if you enjoy a beer and also genuine, authentic pubs. Forget the horrible gastro pubs that all look the same, I am talking about ‘real’ pubs and bars – and in Dublin they can be found in abundance.

So what are the best bars in Dublin? Well, through extensive research over the last 16 years I can safely say that the list of 5 below will definitely be worth a visit.

The Barge

This is the only place to be in Dublin when the sun is out. It’s one of the more unique locations and a great place to chat to locals. The crowds gather there all weekend when the sun is shining – one definitely not to be missed.

Xico

If you’re looking for the place where the working crowd like to let it all out after a long week then this is the place for you. You’ll see people climbing up on the tables and dancing the night away. Some grab a sombrero and join in the fun!

The Liquor Rooms

This is one of the coolest places in town and has four different rooms for you to choose from. Each one guarantees you a different kind of night. If you’re with a group then order up one of the huge bowls of punch, they’re mad and enough to get any night started. The Liquor rooms are a place in town where you know a great night is guaranteed.

Farrier and Draper

This bar is dripping in class and is seriously slick. It serves up some great food too, making it the perfect place to spend hours on any given day. You’ll see that the waiters are decked out in 1920s themed clothing, which adds to the feel of the place. If you head upstairs you’ll find a dj spinning some classy tunes for the cool kids in town. If you’re looking for a quiet drink or dancing all night, this is a place to check out.

The Chelsea Drugstore

If you’ve hit the 4 bars above a bit too hard then The Chelsea Drugstore can offer the medicine you’re looking for to kick that hangover. It’s a great place to get some healing and get ready for the next round of fun. When we say medicine, we’re talking about the alcoholic type – order up their Mirror Ball cocktail, this drink will quickly kick any hangover and certainly provide you with the answer to any problems you might be facing. It’s what every girl needs, trust me.
